அழுத்தம் - Azhuththam
s. compactness, hardness, கடினம்; 2. obstinacy, பிடிவாதம்; 3. reservedness, of mind, அடக்கம்; 4. close fistedness, உலோபம் & 5. profoundness in mental application, ஆழ்ந்தறியும் தன்மை.
சட்டை அழுத்தமாயிருக்கிறது, the coat fits close, is tight. அழுத்தக்காரன், an obstinate man, a reserved man, a stingy fellow. அழுத்தமாய்ப் பேச, to speak emphatically; to speak reservedly. அழுத்தம் பாராட்ட, to be stiff-necked. அழுத்தம் திருத்தமான நெஞ்சுறுதி, strong-mindedness.
ஈரம் -
s. wetness, humidity, moisture, நனைவு; 2. coolness, agreeableness, குளிர்ச்சி; 3. kindness, affection, அன்பு; 4. grace, கிருபை; 5. knowledge, wisdom, அறிவு; 6. freshness, greenness, பசுமை.
ஈர நாவுக்கு எலும்பில்லை, a slanderous tongue has no bone on it; (a babbler may babble anything). ஈரநெஞ்சு, kind loving heart. ஈரநைப்பு, the dimming of a mirror on account of moisture deposited on it. ஈரப்பசை, cohesion arising from humidity; moisture. ஈரப்பசையுள்ளவன், a man in easy circumstances, one in well-to-do circumstances. ஈரப்பலா, the bread-fruit tree. ஆசினி மரம். ஈரமில்லா நெஞ்சத்தார், persons whose hearts are void of kindness, men who have no loving heart. ஈரவெங்காயம், ஈருள்ளி, onions. ஈரவன், ஈர்ங்கதிர், the moon. ஈர்ந்தமிழ், sweet agreeable Tamil.
இளகு -
III. v. i. become soft or pliable, தணி; 2. grow moist ஈரி; 3. grow tender, mild, மிருதுவாகு; 4. be compassionate, நெகிழு; 5. grow weary, get tired, களை; 6. lessen in severity, தணி (as wind, rain, fever etc).
இளகாதவன், inexorable, hard-hearted, unfeeling man. இளகின நெஞ்சு, -மனசு, a feeling, kind heart.
