காயம் - Kaayam
s. wound, புண்; 2. asafoetida, பெருங்காயம்; 3. medicine prepared for women in child--bed, காயமருந்து; 4. pepper, மிளகு; 5. garlic, பூண்டு; 6. pungency, உறைப்பு; 7. (Ar.) that which is fixed, permanent, நிலையா னது.

சீவனம் - civanam
ஜீவனம், s. the way of living, sustaining life, உயிர்வாழ்வு; 2. livelihood, பிழைப்பு; 3. employment, உத்தியோகம்; 4. water, நீர்.
சீவனம்பண்ண, -நடக்க, to live, to subsist. சீவனாம்சம், an allotted subsistence; alimony. சீவனாம்சக்காரி, a widow or forsaken wife who gets alimony. சீவனார்த்தம், support of life, secular motives (opp. to ஆத்மார்த்தம்). சீவனோபாயம், means of subsistence. கஷ்ட சீவனம், wretched life.
