காப்பு - Kaappu

காப்புக்கட்ட, to tie an amulet round the arm; 2. to engage in any pursuit with zeal. காப்பு நாண், the string which is used for the purpose of tying an amulet. காப்பாற்ற, to defend, protect, preserve, save, தற்காக்க. காப்பிட, to put arm rings to children when five days old. தற்காக்க, see under தற் (தன்).
அரை - Arai
s. half, பாதி; 2. the waist, இடை; 3. மரத்தினடி, trunk of a tree; & 4. stomach.
அரைக் கட்டிக்கொள், gird yourself. அரைக் கச்சை, girdle. அரைக்கால், an eighth, half a quarter. அரைச்சட்டை, waist coat; jacket. அரைஞாண், அரைநாண், cord round the loins. அரைநாழிகை, half of an Indian hour or 12 minutes. அரைப்பை, a purse tied round the waist. அரைமனசாயிருக்க, to be reluctant, to be half willing. அரையாப்பு, அரையாப்புக்கட்டி, a venereal ulcer, bubo. அரைவாசி, half. அரைவாசி ஆயிற்று, it is half done. அரைவாசி வார்க்க, to fill half full. அரைகுறையான சீர்திருத்தம், imperfect reform. அரைவட்டமாக விஸ்தரிக்க, to extend in a semi-circular form. அரை உத்தியோக முறையில், semi-officially.
தொடை - Thodai
s. the thigh, குறங்கு; 2. a flower-garland, பூமாலை; 3. a bowstring, வில்நாண்; 4. an arrow, அம்பு; 5. rhyme in poetry, செய்யுளுறுப்பி லொன்று; 6. a surrounding wall, a bullwark, a fortification, மதிற்சுற்று; 7. verse, poetry, பாட்டு; 8. block projecting from a wall to support a beam, சுவர்ப்புறத்து நீண்ட வுத்திரம்; 9. a bunch of flowers.
தொடைதட்டி வெள்ளாழர், -வெள்ளாளர், barbers. தொடையிலே தட்ட, --தட்ட, to strike the thigh in token of bravery, defiance, admiration, surprise etc. தொடையை நிமிண்ட, to pinch the thigh. தொடைவாழை, --வாளை, a tumour on the thigh near the groin; 2. a shrub whose leaves are used to cure the tumour. தொடைவாழை (வாளை) புறப்பட்டுக் கிடக்க, to lie sick of the thigh tumour. தொடை விகற்பம், the different varieties of rhyme. எதுகைத் தொடை, consonance or rhyming of the 2nd letter in verses. பின்னந் தொடை, a hind-quarter. முரண்டொடை, a kind of poetry consisting of words taken in contrast or by antithesis. முன்னந் தொடை, a forequarter of a sheep etc. மோனைத் தொடை, alliteration.
