தடை - Thadai
s. hinderance, impediment, obstacle, தடங்கல்; 2. objection, ஆட் சேபம்; 3. an allowance in weighing for the weight of the vessel, தடை யம்; 4. mail, coat-of-mail, கவசம்; 5. a check to keep things in their places (as a linch pin, a catch etc.) பிடிப்பு; 6. a bar or bolt of a gate or door, a guard, watch etc. அடைப்பு.
தடைகட்ட, to stop by witchcraft; 2. to make an allowance in weighing. தடைகட்டுமந்திரம், an incantation for warding off evil. தடைசொல்ல, to object to, to protest against. தடைபண்ண, -செய்ய, -படுத்த, to hinder, to arrest, to confine, to stop. தடைபோட, to put a catch, a pin or a bolt to prevent a thing from falling (to keep a thing in its place). தடையற, தடையின்றி, தடையன்னியில், தடையில்லாமல், adv. without impediment or objection, freely. தடையுண்ண, to be hindered. தடைவிடுவிக்க, to remove a check or restraint by magic spells.
தொட்டி - Thotti
s. a trough, a manger, முன் னணை; 2. a cistern; 3. a square building with an open space in the centre; 4. an enclosure, a yard, a pound, அடைப்பு; 5. default as in work, அபராதம்.
தொட்டிக்கட்டாய்க் கட்டின வீடு, a house whose yard is in the middle, all the four sides being built up. தொட்டிக் கால், a bandy leg. தொட்டிப்பணம், a fine for default of workmen. தொட்டி வயிறு, a paunch belly. மண்தொட்டி, an earthen trough. மரத்தொட்டி, a wooden trough. கற்றொட்டி, a stone-trough. புற்றொட்டி, a crib for grass or hay.
