அள்ளு -
அள், s. the glasp for a bolt lo fasten with plates; 2. cheeks; 3. sharpness; 4. crowdedness; 5. strength firmness, வன்மை; 6. lock, பூட்டு.
அள்ளிருள், utter darkness. அள்ளுமாந்தம், (அள்ளு+மாந்தம்), infantile bronchitis, convulsion.
வாரு -
III. v. t. take up by the handful, அள்ளு; 2. sweep off, remove people in great numbers out of the world, திரளாய்க் கொண்டுபோ; 3. carry off, steal, கவரு; 4. gather, சேர்த்துக் கொள்; 5. shave a palmyra leaf for writing; 6. comb the hair, சீவு; 7. cast up, as a wave of the sea, or the current of a river, வரன்று.
