அனுபவி; v. i. be worth, விலைபெறு, Following an infinitive பெறு is almost synonymous to படு as in அடையப் பெறும், it may be had, நன்கு மதிக்கப் பெற்றவன், one who is highly esteemed, காணப்பெற்றேன், I obtained sight of. பே பே s. foam, froth, நுரை; 2. cloud, மேகம்.
ஆண்பிள்ளையைப் பெற்றாள், she has brought forth a son. அவள் பெற்ற பிள்ளை, her own child. என்ன (எத்தனை) பெறும், how much is it worth? ஒருகாசு பெறாத வேலை, a work not worth a cash. இவன் (ஒரு) காசு பெறாத மனுஷன், he is a worthless fellow. பெறாத, neg. adj. part. insufficient, ineffectual (as in பெறாத, ஈடு, insufficient security). பெறுமதி, (prov. பெறுதி) worth, value, reward. பெறுமானம், worth.

எனக்குத் (என்னால்) தாங்காது, I cannot afford it, it is not enough for me, I cannot put up with it, I cannot endure it. அவனுக்குச் சாப்பாடுகொடுத்துத் தாங் காது, no one can afford to feed him. என்னாலே அவ்வளவு கொடுக்கத் தாங் காது, I cannot afford to give so much. காற்றுக்குத் தாங்காது, it will not bear the wind. தாங்கித் தடுக்கிட, to treat with the greatest respect or tenderness. தாங்கித்தாங்கி நடக்க, to go hobbling, to limp in walking. பசு காலைத் தாங்கித்தாங்கி வைக்கிறது, (நடக்கிறது) the cow limps in walking. தாங்கித்தாங்கிப் பேசுகிறான், he speaks haltingly. தாங்கு, v. n. bearing, தாங்கல்; 2. support, தாங்கி; 3. staff or pike, ஈட்டிக் காம்பு.
