காதல் - Kaathal
s. love, affection, அன்பு; desire, ஆசை; 3. lust, passion, விரகம்; 4. the cry of certain birds considered ominous; 5. v. n. of காது; 6. peg for driving out nails.
காதலன், husband, lover, bosom friend, a darling son. காதலி, wife, a female friend, mistress; a darling daughter. காதல் புரிய, to desire. காதன்மை, affection, love. ஆந்தைக்காதல், the screeching of an owl; a work on sooth - saying by the screech of an owl.
கௌளி - kauli
s. a small kind of lizard, கெவுளி, கவளி; 2. a bundle of 1 betel-leaves, கவளி; 3. a specific melody type, ஓர் இராகம்.
கௌளி எழும்புகிறது, --சொல்லுகிறது, --அடிக்கிறது, the lizard chirps (regarded as an omen.) கௌளிகாதல், the chirp of the lizard and its presage. கௌளிக்கட்டாய்ச் சொல்ல, to mislead, to deceive a person by professing to foretell. கௌளி சாஸ்திரம், the art of divining by the chirp of a lizard.
