பதம் - Patham
பதன், s. a proper temperament, consistency, fitness, பக்குவம்; 2. boiled rice, சோறு; 3. a kind of ode, சிந்து; 4. a sacrificial grass, அறுகு; 5. beauty, அழகு; 6. time, காலம்; 7. an Indian hour of 24 minutes, நாழிகை.
பதக்கேடு, பதனழிவு, over-ripeness. பதநீர், (com. பதனி, vulg. பதினி) palm tree juice drawn in a pot rubbed with chunnam inside to prevent fermentation. பதந் தப்ப, to miss the proper temperature, to spoil (as a dish by seasoning it too little or too much). பதந் தப்பின எஃகு, steel too much hardened. பதமாய் வடிக்க, to strain the water from the boiled rice in proper time. பதம் பாட, to compose a பதம், ode. பதம் பார்க்க, to try the taste and consistency of boiling rice etc.; 2. to test the degree of heat in metals. இரும்பைப் பதம்பார்த்து அடி, strike the iron when it is in the right degree of heat. பதனிட, பதமாக்க, பதப்படுத்த, to temper, to season, to mould, to tan. தோல் பதனிடுகிறவன், a tanner.
இனம் - Inam
s. a kindred, relationship, சுற்றம்; 2. class, sort, குலம்; 3. company, flock, herd, திரள்; 3. equality, ஒப்பு; 4. individual, ஆசாமி; 5. brotherhood, fellowship, society, company.
"இனம் இனத்தோடே, வெள்ளாடு தன் னோடே" Proverb "Geese with geese and women with women". "Birds of a feather flock to-gether" அதற்கு இனம் பண்ணினான், (பண்ணி வைத்தான்), he adopted proper measures to effect it. இனக்கட்டு, alliance, union between relations. இனசனம், இனத்தார், இனத்தவர், சனத் தார், kinsfolk, relations. இனமாய்ச்செய்ய, to do a thing properly. இனமாய்ச்சொல்ல, to speak with propriety. இனமும் சனமுமாயிருக்க, to have money, relatives and dependents. இனம்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்க, to look for proper means, to await an opportunity. இனம் பிரிக்க, to divide into classes. இனம்பிரிய, to be separated from the kinsfolk. இனவழி, descent from the same line or ancestry. இடையினம், the six middle sounding consonants. மெல்லினம், the six soft-sounding consonants. வல்லினம், the six hard-sounding consonants. இனவெழுத்து, kindred letters.
சரவை - caravai
(சரம்) s. wreath, மாலை; 2. a rough copy, the first draft not compared with the original, சரவை எழுத்து; 3. error in writing, எழுத்துப் பிழை; 4. that which is coarse, clumsy, சரவட்டை.
