புளி - Puli
s. acidity, sourness; 2. anything acid; 3. the tamarind fruit or tree. In combin. the following hard consonant is doubled or the corresponding nasal is inserted.
புளிகரைக்க, to dissolve or dilute tamarind fruit for curry. புளிகுடிக்க, (vulg. for குளி குளிக்க), to be delivered of a child. புளிக்கறி, புளிங்கறி, a sour dish. புளிச்சோறு, புளிஞ்-, புளியஞ்சோறு, boiled rice acidified. புளித்தயிர், புளிந்-, sour curds. புளிமண்டி, a black stain in palmyra fruit, by injury, unpleasantly sour, புளிப்புக்கொண்டது; 2. very dirty or greasy clothes etc., அதிக வழுக்கு. புளிமா, bilimby tree or fruits; 2. a species of poetic foot in prosody. புளி மீன், புளி வாரிட்ட மீன், tamarind fish, fish soured with tamarind. புளியங்காய், unripe tamarind fruit. புளியங் கொட்டை, tamarind seeds or stones. புளியமரம், the tamarind tree. புளியறணை, a plant, ஓர் பூடு. புளியாரை, a medicinal plant, oxalis corniculata. புளியேப்பம், sour wind from the stomach. புளியேப்பம் காண, to eructate or belch from acidity of the stomach. புளியோதனம், புளியோரை, புளியோ கரம், same as புளிச்சோறு.
ஆரை -
s. a kitchen herb growing in water ஆரைக்கீரை; 2. wall, ஆரல்; 3. a mat made of rushes, கோரைப்பாய். வல்லாரை, புளியாரை, other kinds of the herb used in medicine.

s. the plant oxalis புளியாரை.
