அறை - Arai
II. v. t. smite, slap strike with the hand; 2. hammer, drive in, கடாவு, 3. say, speak, tell, சொல்; 4. cut in pieces, துண்டி; 5. beat as a drum, கொட்டு; v. i. sound, ஒலி; 2. beat against as waves against the shore, as wind, மோது.
ஆணியைச் சுவரிலே அறை, drive the nail into the wall. கன்னத்தில் அறைய, to slap one on the cheek. சிலுவையில் அறைய, to crucify. அறையப்பட, அறையுண்ண, to be struck, to be slapped.

III. v. i. & t. hit, beat, dash against, அடி; 2. cover with clouds or as an eagle a dead body, அப்பு.
அலை மோதிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது, the waves beat against the shore. காற்று மோதியடிக்கிறது, the wind blows violently. சுவருக்கு மண்மோத, to put earth to a mud-wall in making repairs. மோதல், மோதுதல், v. n. beating, dashing against.

III. v. i. blow (as the wind); 2. spread (as heat, odour etc.), பரவு; 3. fan, beat or dash against, as rain or wind, மோது; v. t. emit a smell or rays, பரப்பு; 2. cast or let down a net, fling, throw a stone, எறி; 3. brandish, flourish a sword, அசை; 4. give liberally, ஈ; 5. flog, அடி.
காற்று வீசுகிறது, the wind blows. கத்தியை வீச, to brandish a sword. அனல் வீசுகிறது, the heat radiates. கைவீசி நடக்க, to swing arms in walking. தூவானம் வீசுகிறது, the wind drives in drops of rain. சூரியன் கதிர் வீசுகிறது, the sun darts its beams. வலையை வீச, to cast the net. வீசல், v. n. throwing, giving liberally etc. வீச்சு, v. n. a throw, a stroke; 2. an impulse or oscillation, ஆட்டம்; 3. strength, வலி. ஒரே வீச்சாய், -வீச்சிலே, at one blow or stroke. வீச்சாட்டம், extension of space; 2. (fig.) good circumstances. வீச்சு வீச்சென்று நடக்க, to walk quickly.
