தோய் -
VI. v. t. (துவை VI.) dip in, beat clothes in washing, நனை; 2. curdle milk, உறை; 3. temper steel.
தோய்த்தல், தோய்ச்சல், v. n. dipping, washing clothes, curdling milk, tempering iron. தோய்த்துப்பிழிய, to dip a cloth in water and wring out. தோய்ப்பம், தோய்ப்பன், a kind of pancake. இளந்தோய்ச்சல், insufficient tempering. சாயந்தோய்க்க, to dye. மகரந்தோய்க்க, to tinge cloth of a reddish dye.

ஈர நாவுக்கு எலும்பில்லை, a slanderous tongue has no bone on it; (a babbler may babble anything). ஈரநெஞ்சு, kind loving heart. ஈரநைப்பு, the dimming of a mirror on account of moisture deposited on it. ஈரப்பசை, cohesion arising from humidity; moisture. ஈரப்பசையுள்ளவன், a man in easy circumstances, one in well-to-do circumstances. ஈரப்பலா, the bread-fruit tree. ஆசினி மரம். ஈரமில்லா நெஞ்சத்தார், persons whose hearts are void of kindness, men who have no loving heart. ஈரவெங்காயம், ஈருள்ளி, onions. ஈரவன், ஈர்ங்கதிர், the moon. ஈர்ந்தமிழ், sweet agreeable Tamil.

(vulg. ஈர்) VI. v. i. grow moist, wet, நனை; 2. grow cold, be benumbed or deadened by cold, குளிரு.
ஈரிப்பு, v. n. dampness, moisture; 2. friendship, சினேகம். ஈரிப்புக்காண, to be morbidly cold.
