தனை -
s. an affix expressing number or quantity (as in அத்தனை, that much, இத்தனை, this much, so many, so great, எத்தனை, how much? how many? how great?).
தனையும், vulg. தனிலும், affixed to a fut. part. so long as. அவன் வருந்தனையும், till he comes. இருக்குந்தனையும், as long as it shall be or remain. சாகுந்தனையும், till death.
அத்தனை - attanai
adj. so much, so many, see தனை.
அத்தனைக்கத்தனை, so much for so much, proportionately. அத்தனைக்கெத்தனை, how much for so much, proportionately. கடுகத்தனை (கடுகு+அத்தனை) of the size of mustard.
எத்தனை - ettanai
எத்துணை, inter. pron. how much, how many? எவ்வளவு.
எத்தனைக்குப் பெரியவனாயிருக்கிறாயோ, அத்தனைக்குத் தாழ்மையாயிரு, the higher thou art, be the more humble. எத்தனை தூரம், how far? எத்தனை புருஷர், how many men? எத்தனையானாலும், be it ever so much or little.
