பொழுது - Pozhuthu
போது, s. time, காலம்; 2. portions of time, வேளை; 3. the sun, சூரியன்.
ஒரு (இரண்டு) பொழுதுசாப்பிட, to eat once (twice) a day. பொழுதுகட்டுகிறது, it seems we shall have rain today, the sun being overcast with clouds. பொழுதுசாய்கிறது, -சாய்ந்துபோகிறது, -இறங்குகிறது, -பூதுகிறது, -பூந்து போகிறது, the sun sets, the day declines. பொழுதுசாய (vulg. பொழுசாய, பொசாய) adv. in the evening; inf. to decline as the sun. பொதுபோக, -பட, adv. at sunset. பொழுதுபோக்க, to pass or idle away time, to lounge. வீண் பொழுதுபோக்க, to trifle away time. பொழுது போக்காயிருக்க, to make a merry day, to delay from day to day. பொழுதுவணங்கி, the sun flower, சூரியகாந்திப்பூ. பொழுது விடிகிறது, the day breaks, the sun rises. அப்பொழுது, இப்பொழுது, எப்பொ ழுது, see separately. இறங்குபொழுது, the afternoon. ஏறுபொழுது, the forenoon. சிறு (அறு) பொழுது, the six divisions of the day (from sunset to sunset). They are மாலை, யாமம், வைகறை, விடியல் (காலை), நண்பகல், எற்பாடு (opp. to பெரும்பொழுது, the six seasons of the year; which see under பருவம்).
போது -
s. (contr. of போழ்து) time, பொழுது; 2. (with a participle) when, while; 3. a flower bud. It signifies never when joined with உம் followed by a negative as in அவன் ஒருபோ தும் வரமாட்டான், he will never come.
அவன் வருகிறபோது, when he comes. முன்னொருபோது, at a former time. அப்போது (அப்போ), இப்போது, எப் போதும், see, அப்பொழுது etc.
