சாந்து -
s. mortar, cement, plaster, சுண் ணச்சாந்து; 2. compound ointment, கலவைச்சாந்து; 3. the pollen in the anther of a flower, பூந்தாது; 4. fragrant powders, powders, in generel, பொடி; 5. human excrement, filth, மலம்; 6. a black pigment used as a mark on the forhead.
சாந்தணிய, to put on sandal paste. சாந்தரைக்க, to grind lime for fine mortar. சாந்தாய் அரைக்க, to grind into fine powder. சாந்தாற்றி, (lit.) that which dries up the sandal paste; 2. a fan; 3. a fan of peacock feathers. சாந்து குழைக்க, to macerate and temper mortar. சாந்து பூச, to plaster to put on fragrant ointment. சாந்துப் பொட்டு, a spot of a dark colour put on the forehead. சாந்துவாரிa scavenger. அரைசாந்து, ground mortar, stucco. கருஞ்சாந்து, clay used as plaster. மயிர்ச் சாந்து, a perfume used by women for their hair.
