காரம் - Kaaram
s. pungency, anything hot or biting, உறைப்பு; 2. gold, பொன்; 3. the solid part of wood, காழ், மரவயிரம்.
காரசாரமான கறி, strong and palatable curry. (காரமான = sharp, pungent).
சீக்கிரம் - Seekiram
சீக்கிரதை, swiftness, விரைவு; 2. anger, irritability, கோபம்; 3. in- tensity, severity, as of a disease; 4. pungency, as of tobacco, உறைப்பு; 5. a small hack palanquin carriage.
சீக்கிர புத்தி, hasty counsel, rashness. சீக்கிரப்படுத்த, சீக்கிரம் பண்ண, to hasten, to hurry. சீக்கிரமாய், சீக்கிரத்திலே, speedily, hastily, in haste.
காயம் - Kaayam
s. wound, புண்; 2. asafoetida, பெருங்காயம்; 3. medicine prepared for women in child--bed, காயமருந்து; 4. pepper, மிளகு; 5. garlic, பூண்டு; 6. pungency, உறைப்பு; 7. (Ar.) that which is fixed, permanent, நிலையா னது.
அந்த உத்தியோகம் காயமல்ல, it is not a permanent employment. காயங்கட்ட, to dress a wound. காயப்பட, காயம்பட, to be wounded. காயப்படுத்த, to wound. காயம்போட, -கொடுக்க, to give a compound of several drugs to a lyingin woman. அடிக்காயம், a wound from a blow. சாவுக்காயம், a mortal wound. திரிகாயம், காயத்திரி, a compound of three pungent substances as asafoetida, pepper and garlic. படுகாயம், serious wound. பிழைகாயம், a wound that is not mortal. பெருங்காயம், asafoetida.
