தாங்கு - Thaangu
III. v. t. bear up, support, assist, தாபரி; 2. ward off, keep off, விலக்கு; 3. bear, suffer, endure, tolerate, சகி; 4. carry, சும; 5. protect, guard, கா; 6. maintain, ஆதரி; v. i. halt in speaking or walking, நிறுத்து; 7. suffice.
எனக்குத் (என்னால்) தாங்காது, I cannot afford it, it is not enough for me, I cannot put up with it, I cannot endure it. அவனுக்குச் சாப்பாடுகொடுத்துத் தாங் காது, no one can afford to feed him. என்னாலே அவ்வளவு கொடுக்கத் தாங் காது, I cannot afford to give so much. காற்றுக்குத் தாங்காது, it will not bear the wind. தாங்கித் தடுக்கிட, to treat with the greatest respect or tenderness. தாங்கித்தாங்கி நடக்க, to go hobbling, to limp in walking. பசு காலைத் தாங்கித்தாங்கி வைக்கிறது, (நடக்கிறது) the cow limps in walking. தாங்கித்தாங்கிப் பேசுகிறான், he speaks haltingly. தாங்கு, v. n. bearing, தாங்கல்; 2. support, தாங்கி; 3. staff or pike, ஈட்டிக் காம்பு.
