காய் - Kaay
s. unripe fruit; 2. pieces at chessboard etc. சொக்கட்டான்காய்; 3. unripe boil; 4. (Prosody) the last metrical division in a சீர் of three syllables (அசை) sounding like காய்; 5. seed, as of a bull; as in காயடித்தமாடு, a castrated bull; 6. cicatrice from a wound புண்வடு.
காய்கறி, fruits, vegetables etc. for the curry. காய்காய்்க்க, to form as fruit, to bear fruit. காய்க்காரன், one that sells fruit. காய்பறிக்க, to pluck unripe fruit. கருங்காய், chaff. செங்காய், fruit nearly ripe. பசுங்காய், இளங்காய், tender immature fruit or grain.
