ஓமம் - Oomam
ஹோமம், s. burnt offering, casting of ghee, grain etc. into the sacred fire; 2. sacrifice, வேள்வி.
ஓமகுண்டம், a hole made in the ground for sacrificial fire. ஓமத்திரவியம், requisites for a sacrifice. ஓமம்பண்ண, --செய்ய, to perform a burnt sacrifice. ஓமம்வளர்க்க, to kindle and feed the sacrificial fire. ஓமாக்கினி, sacrificial fire.
தடம் - Thadam
s. a way, a track, a footstep, வழி; 2. width, expanse, விசாலம்; 3. a ridge, a dam, வரம்பு; 4. a hill or mountain, மலை; 5. the side of a hill; 6. a tank, a pond; 7. a tree microcos paniculata; 8. a pit for sacrificial fire, ஓமகுண்டம்; 9. an open field; 1. a trap, a snare, கண்ணி.
தடக்கை, a wide hand. தடங்கண், large eyes. தடங் காட்ட, to show the way. தடங் கொண்டுபோய்விட, to lead into the way. தடந்தேட, to seek means to ruin one. தடந்தோள், broad shoulders. தடம்பார்க்க, to trace the footsteps of a thief 2. to seek means of relief தடம் பிடிக்க. தடம் புனல், a sheet of water. தடம் போட, to place a noose for catching animals; to contrive the ruin of others. வண்டித்தடம், the rut in a cart-road.
வேள்வி -
v. n. & s. a sacrifice, யாகம்; 2. adoration, worship, ஆராதனை; 3. the tenth lunar mansion, மகம்; 4. a sacrificial pot, ஓமகுண்டம்; 5. beneficence, ஈகை.
வேள்விக்குண்டம், as வேள்வி 4. வேள்வித் தறி, a sacrificial post, தூப ஸ்தம்பம். வேள்வி நாயகன், Indra. வேள்வியாளர், Brahmins, munificent persons. வேள்வி யோம்பல், offering burnt sacrifices.
