தேய் - Theey
II. v. i. wear away, be rubbed away, உரை II; 2. decrease, waste away, wane, குறை; 3. lapse, கழி; 4. be effaced or obliterated by rubbing, மாய் II; 5. be emaciated or stunted, as a child; be reduced as wealth, splendour etc.
தேய்கடை, adj. worn out, stunted in growth. தேய்கடைப்பணம், a fanam worn by use. தேய்க்கடைப்பிள்ளை, a stunted child. தேய்ந்தபல்லன், (fem. தேய்ந்தபல்லி) a person whose teeth are worn out. தேய்பிறை, the waning moon (opp. to வளர்பிறை, the waxing moon.) தேய்வு, v. n. wearing away, diminution; 2. emaciation; 3. erasure.

உரைகல், a touch-stone. உரைகாரன், உரையாசிரியன், a commentator. உரைநூல், a work on which a commentary has been written. உரையாணி, a gold pin for testing the quality of gold. உரையெழுத, to write a commentary. உரைவாசகம், prose, composition. "உரைசான்ற நீதியுளாய்" (திருவி.); you whose justice has won fame.
தேய்மானம் -
s. waste produced by rubbing, தேய்வு; 2. frugality, சிக்கனம்; 3. the touch of gold on the stone or the quantity lost by rubbing, பொன் னுரை தேய்மானம்.
தேய்மானக்காரன், a mean penurious person, fond of living at the cost of others.
