ஆள் -
s. a person, a grown man, ஆண் மகன்; 2. one that is able at act for oneself, a man of power, consequence, சுயாதீனன்; 3. a messenger, a labourer, servant, slave, அடிமை; 4. warrior, வீரன்; 5. husband, கணவன்.
ஆள்வினை, alacrity, bravery, முயற்சி, தைரியம். அவன் அதுக்கு ஆளல்ல, he is not capable of doing it. ஆட்காட்டி, a bird that screeches on seeing anybody at night, a lapwing; 2. the forefinger, ஆட்காட்டி விரல். ஆட்கூலி, the wages of a workman. ஆட்கொல்லி, murderer: 2. gold, money (fig.) ஆட்கொள்ள, to employ as a servant, to admit as a devotee. ஆட்டிட்டம் (ஆள்+திட்டம்) quantity fixed for an adult; marks for recognising a person. ஆட்பிடியன், an alligator. ஆளாக, to arrive at manhood; to be liable to. ஆளாக்க, to bring one up, to teach one to act for oneself (caus. of ஆளாக, to involve one into). ஆளோட்டி, slave-driver, overseer of workmen. ஆள்மாறாட்டம், false personation. ஆள்மாறாட்டம் செய்ய, to personate, to assume a disguise. ஆள்வள்ளி, the tapioca plant. ஆள்வீதம், the portion belonging to each person. கூலியாள், சிற்றாள், வீட்டாள், வேலை யாள், see under கூலி etc. தெய்வீக ஆள்தத்துவம், (christ.)
