காரணம் - Kaaranam
s. cause, ஏது; 2. origin, principle, மூலம்; 3. motive, reason நோக் கம்; 4. means, instrument, கருவி.
காரணகாரியம், cause and effect. காரணகர்த்தா, -கடவுள், the Supreme Being as agent in all things. காரணகுரு, the guru that seeks not his own interest but the spiritual welfare of his disciples (opp. to காரியகுரு). காரணக்குறி, derived names. காரணச்சொல், a story, a narrative, கதை. காரணப்பெயர், (gram.) a derivative name. காரணங்காட்ட, to show reason, affirm. காரணபுருஷன், (காரணஸ்தன்) an originator. காரணமாயிருக்க, to be the author of a thing. காரணமுகாந்தரம், motive. காரண விசேஷங்கள், chief or principal things. காரணானுமானம், (christ.) cosmological argument; (in logic) a priori reasoning, inference from cause to effect (opp. to காரியானுமானம்) சர்வத்திற்கும் ஆதிகாரணமானவர், the first cause or the creator of all things. மூலகாரணம், (முதற்காரணம்), the original cause.
நிமித்தம் -
நிமித்தியம், s. a sign, a mark, அடையாளம்; 2. an omen, an augury, சகுனம்; 3. cause, motive, முகாந்தரம்; 4. efficient cause, காரணம்; 5. for the sake of, on acccount of, பொருட்டு.
இதினிமித்தம், for this reason, therefore. அடித்ததினிமித்தம் or அடித்தநிமித்தம், as he had beaten. நிமித்தகாரணம், the efficient cause. நிமித்தக்காரர், diviners, augurs from omens, prognosticators. நிமித்தத்துவம், instrumentality, causality. நிமித்தம்பார்க்க, to consult omens, to observe superstitious signs. துர்நிமித்தம், a bad omen. நன்னிமித்தம், a good omen.
அந்தரம் - antaram
s. an open space; a large extent of barren ground, அந்தரவெளி; 2. air, sky, ஆகாயம்; 3. difference; 4. crowd; 5. waist; 6. temple; 7. evil, தீமை; 8. darkness. In combinations it has different meanings as தேசாந்தரம், தீவாந் தரம், மாதாந்தரம், முகாந்தரம் etc. which see.
அந்தரத்திலே நிற்க, to stand unsupported; to float in the sky. கிராமந்தரங்கள், crowds of villages. அந்தரதுந்துபி, drum of the gods.
