வியாதி - Viyaathi
s. sickness, disease, நோய்.
யாதி முற்றினால் வியாதி, too much thought brings disease. வியாதிக்காரன், வியாதிஸ்தன், வியாதி யஸ்தன், a sick man. வியாதி பரிட்சை, அஷ்டதானப் பரிட்சை, the eight places of symptoms:- pulse, face, stool, urine, eyes, tongue, body and the voice. வியாதியாய் விழ, to fall sick.
இழை - Izhai
s. thread, yarn, நூல்; 2. jewel, ஆபரணம்; 3. (in comp.) a lady bedecked with jewels as நேரிழை, முற் றிழை; 4. string tied round the wrist for a vow, கையிற் கட்டும் காப்பு; 5. one of the 8 ornaments of style.
இழைகுளிர்த்தி, firmness of texture. இழைநெருக்கம், being thickly woven, close-threadedness. இழைவாங்கி, -ஊசி, a darning needle. இழைபிட, -போட, -யோட்ட, to darn, to fine-draw. இழையோட, to measure with a line, to wind thread. நாலிழை நெசவு, cloth of four-twisted threads. மூன்றிழைத் தையல், stitching of three-twisted threads. மயிரிழை, hair-breadth.
பாதி - Paathi
s. half, moiety, அரை; 2. a part, பங்கு; 3. a husband, கணவன்; 4. a master, a lord, தலைவன்.
பாதி வேலையாயிற்று, the work is half done. பாதிக்காரன், an equal partner. பாதிப் பேச்சு, broken speech, the midst of a dispute. பாதியாய்ப் பிரிக்க, -பங்கிட, to halve, to divide into two equal parts. பாதி யிராத்திரி, பாதி ராத்திரி, பாதிச் சாமம், midnight. பிற்பாதி, the latter half. முற்பாதி, the former half. பாதிக்க, (used in poetry) to halve, to divide in halves.
